From the late 1880s to the 1980s there were plenty of local breweries tapping into the thirst of regional beer aficionados. Aside from the most recent like Red Bell and Dock Street, and the most remembered like Schmidt's and Ortlieb's, there were other popular brews like Bergdoll, Erlanger, Esslinger, Betz, Gretz, Poth, Cooper, Hornung, Hohendahl and others.
