One of the earliest endeavors from the genius of Neil Stein back in the 70s, The Fish Market started out as a simple fish market at the corner of 18th & Sansom, where one could select the freshest fish and seafood to take home. The market soon begat a small restaurant, which was quickly followed by expansion into other buildings and The Fish Market became one of the first real "see and be seen" restaurants and bars for Philly scenesters. Alas, the allure of The Fish Market was short lived as the restaurant closed by the mid 80s and made a brief comeback at the same location some 15 years later. Nobody did it like Neil!
