Today we have fast-food burger joints on just about every block, but in the old days of Philly finding a Dewey's was a welcome respite from the corner deli's, diners and family style restaurants. Dewey's was the perfect place to pull up a stool and grab a grilled burger on a steamed bun and wash it down with a frothy milkshake or a birch beer. Dewey's featured other grilled favorites, but it was famous for being one of the first of the casual chains located around town where one could go for reliable fare for breakfast, lunch, dinner, after a date, late night or very late, late, late night.
