According to the advertising slogan for the 1975-76 season they were the team of the year. Well they were certainly better than previous seasons, including the NBA worst ever 9-73 season of 72-73. But even with Billy Cunningham, Doug Collins, George McGinnis, Fred Carter, Joe Bryant, Darryl Dawkins, Lloyd Free and Steve Mix, the best this Gene Shue coached roster could finish was a second place 46-36 spot and a first round exit in the Eastern Conference playoffs. At least they were fun to watch.
