Long before McDonald's, Burger King and all the other fast feeders we had places like Linton's, Horn & Hardart's, Hot Shoppe, Dewey's and other local joints with counter service. But for seating capacity alone they couldn't rival the five & dimes like Woolworth's, Kresge's and Grant's with their runway-sized counters. How those waitresses managed to cover their territory and keep track of who ordered the grilled cheese and who got the texas tommy was a site to behold. What a time it was! Size 14" x 17".
